13 DVC builds on the foundations of 11 and 12 DVC. It requires a focused undertaking of graphics practice, quality freehand and instrumental drawings, and the presentation of design and visual communication techniques.. The students complete their own design brief based projects in a specialist area of spatial or product design.

Design and Visual Communication requires more in-depth undertaking of graphics practice, quality freehand and instrumental drawings, and the presentation of design and visual communication techniques. Students will complete design brief based projects in areas of spatial, engineering and media design.

Year 11 DVC is a design brief based course that provides students with the opportunity to develop their design and visual communication skills. It includes the study and application of the design process, freehand and instrumental drawing techniques and presentation skills. The students complete projects in areas of spatial, product and media design.

In this course, students will design and present their ideas using a variety of media, including paper portfolios and model making. Project work will enable students to develop confidence in drawing, show progression of skills and application of the design process.

Students will learn how to use the design process to create and develop original ideas to solve a design problem. The construction and presentation of freehand and instrumental drawings is taught, allowing students to communicate their ideas in the best way possible.
